Today, Friday the 13th, is the official launch date for this huge musical theatre project I’ve been working on for the past few months.
The composer hired me back in July to record all the vocals for an original musical theatrical adaptation based on the 1798 poem “The Rime of the Ancient Mariner” by Samuel Taylor Coleridge. A supernatural thriller with a Halloween / Day of the Dead theme. Making Friday the 13th a fitting launch date.
For the last 8 weeks I have been recording all of the female and male vocal parts in my home studio. (And yes, I moved the baritone parts up into my range, lol.)
I have recorded 34 songs so far, and there are more to come. Act 1 is 20 songs and the first half were just released today. The remaining 10 songs are set to release in late September and early October, with Act 2 being released in 2020.
The composer launched this YouTube video as a first step to get it to Broadway: https://youtu.be/S547n2hEEjM
Set in Salem, Massachusetts on All Hallows’ Eve. A tarot card predicts “Muerte” on the eve of the Day of the Dead. A wedding feast has been prepped. When a Groomsman shoots an innocent birdie, the Ancient Mariner knows who must hear his tale of crime, punishment, penance and reconciliation before day break on All Saints’ Day. As the boundaries between the living and the dead thin, “The Rime of the Ancient Mariner: The Musical” will unleash a deadly curse on the Seven Seas, you’ll soon never forget.
